RFID Label & Tags

An RFID label (also called RFID tag) is a type of label powered by RFID technology.

How do RFID labels work?

An RFID is composed of three elements: an RFID chip, an antenna and a substrate.

The RFID chip and the antenna are attached to the substrate. The chip stores and sends information via the antenna to a so-called RFID reader.

The way in which the information stored in the RFID chip is transmitted to the reader varies depending on whether the chip is passive or active. When the chip is passive, it means it uses the energy generated by the RFID reader to transmit the information. Active chips, on the other hand, possess an on-board battery that transmits the chip’s identification signal.
